A local tour

07/12/2018, a polling day of Rajasthan  was the second day of tour and group planned departure to Agra next morning. At 08:30 sharp the company representative had informed me to report  at hotels where group stayed. I reached at 08:37 when  group appeared ready but leader in the nearby hotel was not ready. Somehow our bus started at 10:00 approximately. Some minutes ago in a very friendly manner I asked a student how to operàte GPS in the mobile, because driver informed me that because of memory problems and unfamiliarity with Jaipur roads he would not be in a position even to chart þhe same route of yesterday from which he had led us to Amber Fort and had brought the group back to hotel yesterday. I was flabbergasted and for this reason had asked the operating dynamics of GPS.
Then I had realized the merits of being a digital native which I used to ridicule because I favoured a physical book in place of opting a digital option.
To my utter surprise over reaction of  that student taking it to be an intrusion possibility on his privacy as a customer reminded me the pathetic stories by Sherry Turkle in her well researched monumental work "Reclaiming Conversation " wherein she deplores that in American society conversation has become a thing of past and total communications are becoming digital even in a class of fifth standards. Lo! India is not far behind in this agony even when you are on a holidays for fun and learn.
Any way I  Sat on the bonnet of the bus to guide the road map which I some how did with one error resulting a three kilometres longer route to citypalace from a hotel in Shastri Nagar, Jaipur. I wonder if it happened due to some problems in myspatial perceptual functions. God knows only the true reason. There my yesterday Mr X appeared and showed the City Palace to the group. Since my license was not valid in this private property, I took a ticket as per rule and purchased therein a book "The annals of Mewar ". Then Ivisited Sikh Niwas which was fully packed with the tourists and our group was listening with rapt attention the adventures of different Maharajas of Jaipur  with Mr X ,who,by now was fairly acquainted with me and, therefore, leaving the group with him I came out of City Palace at 11:20 hours to wait near bus till they all came out of the palace.  Meanwhile since it was Raj Bhog Darshan time and the distance was a stone's throw , I could not resist the temptation of Darshan. Returning to where the bus was standing I phoned the company representative that since  the group leader plans to take lunch at their hotel, enough time was spare to exercise my vote for the selection of legislators ,I should do it.He was not in favour of it , but, nonetheless, at 13:00 hours when the group left  for lunch at hotel, informing and coordinating next meeting with Mr X and the group leader, I went and rejoined the group at Birla Temple at 15:40 hrs. In Birla Temple  good time with the group leader upto 17:40 hours.
To some students I escorted to Ganesh Mandir  and they were happy there. At 18:20 hours at the subtle suggestion and advice of Mr X I bade good bye with the group. They were now in the mood of some spree shopping and at dinner for Dal Bati Churma.Due to my dental problems  I, however, had to decline the joining for very delicious Rajasthani dish.
